Westwood Academy Highly Commended in Latest

Inspectors find “Pupils are extremely happy” at the Oldham primary school during March 2023 OFSTED visit.

Families and staff from Westwood Academy have been celebrating the latest report which described the Harmony Trust academy as “a calm and respectful school where pupils thrive.”  The report went on to praise the school’s “focus on developing pupils’ personal development” along with the expertise of teaching staff who “use their strong subject knowledge to deliver the curriculum effectively.”

The report highlights the high-quality support in place for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and the high expectations for attainment and behaviour for all pupils.

We work hard to ensure our families feel invested and involved in school and were very pleased the inspector saw the ‘extremely high regard’ parents and carers have for the academy.  We are very grateful to the Westwood community for helping to make the school as successful as it is.”

This reflects the impact of The Harmony Trust’s ‘Read, Achieve, Succeed’ strategy, which recognises attainment in reading as one of the key indicators of success in all curriculum areas.”
