Village Academy retains its 'Good' rating

Another “Good” Inspection at Village Primary Academy

Village Primary Academy in Normanton, was inspected in October and retained its “good” grading, with inspectors commending pupils, staff and leaders.

The academy was inspected in October which marked its first OFSTED visit since 2017 and since converting to The Harmony Trust in 2019.  Pupils at the academy were praised for modelling the school values of ‘respect yourself, respect others, respect the environment as well as their ability to ‘talk enthusiastically about supporting one another and celebrating difference.’

Antony Hughes CEO of The Harmony Trust said “Whilst we are of course delighted that Village retained its ‘good’ rating, we are also pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate how incredibly well our staff and families at the school have rallied following the challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.  They have continued to show resilience, fortitude and a dedication to the outcomes of pupils, with high expectations of all pupils, including those with SEND, being highlighted as a particular strength.

Lynn Thorne, Executive Principal of Village Primary Academy added: “We aim for our school to be a ‘Great Place to Learn’ for all pupils and we were very pleased that our inspection report began with the statement that ‘pupils enjoy coming to this school.’  We were also glad to see that the curriculum development work implemented by our teaching staff since our last inspection was also featured in the report. Our subject leaders have worked tirelessly to ensure our pupils have fulfilling experiences within the classroom that set them up to succeed in life.”
