Cavendish Close Juniors welcomes pupils from China

Children from HongXing Road Primary School, Hefei, China have come to visit Cavendish Close Juniors for three days this week.

The visit is second part of a school exchange programme in which 9 pupils from Cavendish Close Junior Academy visited China in October 2018.

Whilst in China last year the pupils embarked on a very exciting seven-day trip which included travelling on ‘The Bullet Train’ to see Tiananmen Square; visiting ‘The Forbidden Palace’ and visiting The Great Wall of China – an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.

The pupils from HongXing Road Primary School are now here in Derby to experience English school life.  They were welcomed to Cavendish Close with a display of dance, athletics and singing and a warm welcome from the Principal, Emma Smith, Councillor Evonne Williams and our Chief Executive – Antony Hughes.  Whilst visiting the Academy the pupils will take part in lessons and a range of activities over the three days.

Events have also been organised in the local area and include: a guided tour of Derby County Football Stadium, Derby Arena and Pickford House Museum.

Our Chief Executive commented.   ‘It is a privilege to welcome and host the pupils from HongXing.  We hope that they have a wonderful stay in Derby and enjoy the experience.  Our pupils were overwhelmed by the support and kindness offered to them when they went to China and we hope we can provide the same and that they go back with some wonderful stories and memories.’
